At the writing of this post there are still a few patches of snow on the mountains here and there, summer has been warm and dry. We may see snowfall on the top of Yotei in as little as 3 months.

Spring out of Winter – Spring into Summer : The Niseko Way

While some are out and about enjoying the massive melt, we are hell bent on getting the last of the snow in.

Here are a few photos from a Chisenupuri hike last week and reckon by looking at the conditions we may still be making turns into mid June. Keep posted for more! or check here.

That’s a wrap, the resorts are closed up now in Niseko after almost 6 months however for the keen and adventurous the mountain still have lots of snow…

Spring Riding and Fresh Snow?

The month of March has seen some fun days on the mountain, especially if you look for lines that are not so obvious. The snow has keep falling and could do for another week or two. I remember a powder day back in ’04 or ’05 on closing day at Teine in April!

Last year did the same if you check our Spring Daze in Niseko and Niseko Winter – Strike II posts across at discoverniseko.net. So if your coming in March or are planning for next year it is not a bad option, no crowds, chances of fresh snow and bluebird spring days await and your accommodation will be cheap too!

The same is true for April, however snowfall is far less likely, but great spring skiing and longer warmer bluebird days are on the cards. If you are into park Hirafu sets one up on the upper mountain after Hanazono closes their AWESOME park and pipe down. Here is to Spring!

The snow hasn’t stop falling this year and things are going to be pretty epic once the upper mountain opens. But for those in the know today a few of the lower chairs were open and we were all rewarded. A few photos from what we call the gash (Higashiyama) or these days better know as Niseko Village.

Looking Back a Year

Like in any season the snow is not always guaranteed where ever you are in the world. The season started off pretty average and everybody wondered where the famous Niseko snow was. Well looking back a year at our Discover Niseko blog it was pretty much the same. Lots of other great reading across at discoverniseko.net too.
