Checking out the woods Snowshoeing
12 May, 2014
Snowshoeing is a great way to get around if you want to explore in the trees on the flat parts surrounding the resorts or to access the backcountry. Places that are totally inaccessiable during summer due to the thick sasa bamboo grass in the lush Niseko jungle. You can snowshoe all winter once a solid based has settled but spring is a great time as the days are longer and the snowbase covers everytihing including streams and steap stream valleys.
As the snow melts, the streams start flowing again but you can still use the natural snowbridges to get across or you can enjoy chilling by the flowing streams and waterfalls at what we call snowasis.
A few photos, from the last few months from missions in the woods, finding snowasis.
